Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

Grobal uses capillary action to wick water and nutrients into the grow chamber maintaining an ideal level of hydration for the plant.

How often will I really need to add water?

Frequency of watering will vary depending on the plant requirements and environmental factors. For evenly moist soil a weekly or bi-weekly watering is suggested. For a well drained soil we recommend allowing the soil to dry out on top prior to refilling the reservoir. Note: It is not necessary to fill the reservoir completely for all plants. In drier areas with less evaporation occurring, less water will be needed.

What kind of water should I use?

You can use either tap or purified water.

How often do I need to feed the planted Grobal with Grobal Food®?

Every other watering or once a month as needed.

Can I plant seeds in the Grobal®?

Yes, you can plant seeds in the Grobal.

Can I use the Grobal Food® for my other plants?

Yes, Grobal food™ is formulated for most houseplants.

If I run out of Grobal Food® can I use a different fertilizer in my Grobal?

Grobal Food® is designed to provide the plant with an ideal balance of all necessary elements essential for plant growth. While other fertilizers are designed to work in standard soil, they are not suited for use in your Grobal.

What size plant should I use for the Grobal?

For best results we recommend using a 3-4 inch potted plant for the original and 2” for the Baby.

Will my plant out grow my Grobal? If so, how will I know?

Plants will continue to grow based on their environment. Over time your plant can become root bound due to lack of space in the grow chamber. Once this occurs you will notice that the plant is not growing. At this point you can determine whether or not to transplant your plant into a larger container.

The roots are starting to grow through the cup, is that ok?

Yes, as your plant matures the roots will also grow. Your plant’s roots will seek out the most saturated area in their environment. In this case it is in the reservoir. As long as the roots don’t show any signs of rotting, this is perfectly acceptable.

Should I clean my reservoir every time I water my Grobal?

No. We recommend rinsing the reservoir periodically. This does not constitute cleaning it every time you fill it.
